People have settled in the region that is now known as Iraq since 65,000 a.C. Most of Iraq is desert, although near the two most important rivers (the Tigris and the Euphrates) there are fertile alluvial plains. It is a country of a wide and varied heritage, where there are Muslims, Christians, Jews, and Assyrians, among much others. Tea houses are scattered throughout Iraq, and in the afternoon, there is a habit to retreat to the background with close friends for tea, an "Iraqi" nap.
