When I was growing up I was always taught that Christopher Columbus “discovered” America. As it turns out he didn’t even make the top six. What he did was open up the America’s for exploration and colonization by the Europeans. Whether this was ultimately for the good or bad, we would not have a United States if it wasn’t for him.
